Jan Jackson was born with an inherent love for all types of art. As a young adult, she worked within the music industry--her love for music being second only to her love of art. In 1975, she moved to England, married, and started a family. In 1980, she moved to the Caribbean where she co-managed George Martins famous Air Studios Montserrat with her husband, Steve. In 1983, Jan moved to Antigua, and made this lovely tropical paradise her permanent home.
It was the vivid blue of the sea, the lush flora, and her love for the people of Antigua that brought Jan back to painting--all of which are vibrantly depicted in her paintings using her own inimitable style. Jan also works in the collage medium using found objects from that ever -inspiring bright blue ocean. She is also passionate about photography and the environment, and hopes her photographs help to create some awareness of the birds resident here in Antigua. Most recently, Jan has been working with mixed media, creating vibrant abstract pieces. To complete her work, Jan has developed her own line of custom frames.
Jan has shown her work in various galleries around Antigua, including Rythym of Blue and Harmony Hall and also in galleries in South Carolina, USA. These days she works from her home, Pelican Lodge, where you are welcome to visit if you happen to be in the neighborhood.
Jan Jackson is also the author of "The Dragon of Redonda", a childrens book illustrated by well-known artist Frane Lessac. "The Dragon of Redonda" has been released as an audio production on cd and is currently available online at www.caribbeanstoryteller.com
